If there was one place in Australia that was ever going to be interested in our proposal to make the Eureka uprising the centerpiece of our national story (Chap 1 – Aust. National Identity) it is Ballarat. Earlier in the week Pete and Mac did an interview on local Ballarat radio and now the Ballarat Courier is running a story on the idea (click here to read it). Apparently, at least one person likes the idea – the paper reports that:

Eureka Centre director Ron Egeberg said he was delighted to read the comments on Eureka in Imagining Australia. “This will further clarify why Eureka must be understood by all Australians to be a pivotal event in the development of our democratic freedoms and that the Eureka Flag must be recognised under the Flags Act,” Mr Egeberg said.
