Political scientist Don Aitkin has a really interesting posting in the APPRN discussion currently underway. It begins:
I’ve now read the book, and enjoyed it. I’m impressed with the thought, the comprehensive coverage and the engaging level of the writing. I’m also tickled that I keep discovering almost identical sentences and identical points to some in my own MS, which was started about a year ago. Of course, you will find similar kinds of agreement and comment in other contemporary books, too. There is a mood about, and these authors and others have captured it. But a great deal of the critique in this book is positive, not negative. Australia has certainly made a stupendous jump in the last half-century. Now what? And where?
