A Senator for International Australians

One of the proposals we make in Imagining Australia is that expatriate Australians should be represented by their own Senator (and, at the same time, lose their right to vote in House of Representatives elections). In this article, published by the Democratic Audit of Australia at the Australian National University, I spell out why this would be a good idea. The article draws heavily upon the book, though it does expand on the book’s proposal by discussing how parliamentary representation of expatriates has been successfully implemented in Italy.
