Lavatory Journalism

Paul Sheehan has been my top pick for Australia’s worst columnist ever since he wrote about the life-saving properties of bottled water. But Sheehan really takes it to new lows today with his column on Stephen Conroy.* When Australian political journalism gets this infantile, focusing almost exclusively on personalities over ideas, is there any wonder that most people don’t trust politicians?

* It’s interesting to note Sheehan’s frustration at Conroy not responding to his questions, given that he appears to have done the same with Media Watch a couple of years ago.
