US Teacher Quality

There’s a piece in yesterday’s Christian Science Monitor which is quite an engaging writeup of an Education Next article that Caroline Hoxby and I wrote on the decline of teacher quality in the US. There’s been very little done on the issue in Australia, though I’ve this year asked the ARC for a few bucks to look at the topic.

Goodness me, pay should be linked to performance and not seniority?? You were obviously infected by a strange brand of Americanism. Yes to performance pay (what would the NTEU say?), but no to the death penalty. Well, there’s hope for you yet:)
