For any political tragics who are mildly curious as to precisely what books Kevin Rudd bought George Bush yesterday, an insider tells me that they were:
- David Day’s biography of John Curtin
(I had previously thought that it might have been John Edwards’s punchier little book on Curtin)
- Joshua Kurlantzick’s The Charm Offensive
(subtitle: “How China’s Soft Power Is Transforming the World”)
This was also featured in Michelle Grattan’s column today… no need for inside information on this one!
Hmmm – maybe I need to revise. “Inside information for outsiders who don’t read The Age”….
