Call for Papers – New Techniques in Development Economics

I’m co-organising an ANU conference on ‘New Techniques in Development Economics’ on June 19-20, 2008. We’ve just issued a call for papers – details below.

CALL FOR PAPERS
NEW TECHNIQUES IN DEVELOPMENT ECONOMICS
JUNE 19-20, 2008
AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

The Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University will be holding a conference on June 19-20, 2008, on the topic “New Techniques in Development Economics”. Supported by AusAID, the conference will focus on new methodological approaches to development economics research, particularly field experiments and natural experiments.

We are keen to showcase both cutting-edge methodologies, and the novel application of existing empirical tools to answer new questions. Among the confirmed speakers for the conference are Paul Gertler (UC Berkeley), Dean Karlan (Yale), and Seema Jayachandran (Stanford).

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

Researchers interested in presenting a paper at the conference should send a one-page abstract, together with full contact information to andrew.leigh anu.edu.au by February 15, 2008.

The authors of selected papers will be notified by March 15, 2008.

CONFERENCE ORGANISERS:

Professor Xin Meng, Dr Chikako Yamauchi, and Dr Andrew Leigh.

If you’re interested in attending, I’ll post more details about that in due course. Thanks to support from AusAID, we’re hoping that there won’t be any registration fee.
