Joshua Gans blogs about precisely how we should abolish the baby bonus. I concur.
Andrew, for some reason you’re being quoted by the ABC News as saying that the delayed C sections and inductions around baby bonus time is contributing to childhood obesity, something for which there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever.
I have searched your blog and elsewhere, including the medical news, to find any evidence that there were adverse health outcomes from the backing off on interventions around baby bonus time, and found none.
Since we know Australia’s C section rate is more than twice the WHO maximum medically necessary rate, and our unnecessary induction rate even higher than that, the idea that adverse health outcomes should be found is an extraordinary claim which requires extraordinary evidence. Can you point to your source?
