Supply in Saigon, Heterogeneity in Hanoi, Demand in Danang

My colleagues Brian McCaig and Ha Nguyen are running ANU’s second “Vietnam Economics Workshop”. Their call for papers is over the fold.

Call for papers: 2nd Vietnam Economics Workshop
Location: Australian National University, Canberra
Date: 2nd March 2010
Submission deadline: 10th February, 2010

We have the pleasure to inform you that we will organize the “2nd Vietnam Economics Workshop” at the Australian National University, in Canberra on 2nd March 2010. This workshop provides an opportunity for ANU based economists and Ph.D. students to exchange their ideas in economic research about Vietnam. The keynote speaker for the workshop is Dr. Martin Rama, the Lead Economist of the World Bank office in Hanoi.

This will be a one day event with 6 papers. Each paper will be allocated 40 minutes for presentation by authors, 10 minutes for discussant and 10 minutes for general discussion. We are currently looking for two ANU faculty members to present their papers at the workshop. We have a preference for research with an empirical micro focus but all economic research related to Vietnam will be considered. There is no registration fee.

Please let us know if you would be interested in presenting at the workshop. If you are interested in presenting, please provide us with a quick summary, perhaps an abstract, of the topic. Papers or abstracts should be sent to brian.mccaig *AT* or ha.trong *AT* no later than 10th February 2010. Paper selection will be completed by 15th February 2010.

Information about last year’s workshop can be found here.

Best regards,
